Hello, I am still trying to get Orthogonal Toolbox up and running. I'm using:

Windows XP SP-2
Visio for Enterprise Architects (11.4301.6360)
Orthogonal Toolbox 1.5

I finally got OT installed (thanks, Scot!), but now when I try to export my ORM Source model as XML, using all the default settings, I get the following error:

Title: "Export Object Subtype-Supertype Elements"
Text: "Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications project creation must be enabled in order for XML export functionality to function properly."

The problem is that it *is* enabled - I double checked by going to Tools > Options > Security tab, and it shows that the "Enable Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications project creation" option is in fact toggled on.

So at this point I am out of ideas. (I tried restarting, and that didn't do much.)

Thanks,
Michelle

Hmmm....

What is the security level (Tools | Macros | Security)? It shouldn't matter, but you might give lowering it a shot. Also, the XML is still being generated, correct? If so, and if you model has no subtypes in it, the resulting XML should be complete. Thus, if you have no subtypes in your model, the error could be ignored.

Scot.

I set it all the way to Low to eliminate that as a possible cause. Is there an OS-wide setting somewhere? (Something to do with the XP SP2 firewall, maybe?)

You kidding? I love subtyping - I have them all over my model. :)

Thanks,
Michelle

Do you have any other software (e.g. anti virus) that is blocking macro execution loaded?

Otherwise, I'm stumped and can't reproduce this on my setups. Would you be willing to send me the file? If so, send it to my first name at object role modeling dot com and I'll try to take a look at it this weekend to rule out a problem (corruption) with the file itself.

Scot.

I had my local IT support take a look at my settings, and he was able to narrow it down. So if someone else asks down the road, the "right" answer is that on the "Security" response window, on the "Trusted Publishers" tab, the "Trust access to Visual Basic Project" checkbox must be enabled. I just ran the export and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for your help in eliminating other possible causes.

Cheers,
Michelle
