Neumont ORM Architect (NORMA) for Visual Studio is a free, open source ORM tool now released as a "community technology preview". This release has a diagram editor that supports the new ORM2 notation to include mapping of the ORM schema to 4 RDBMSs (MS SQL Server 2005, DB2, Oracle, and PostgresSQL).
Note: NORMA is an add-on to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, so you need to have that installed before you can use it.
"This is an incremental release of the 2006-05 CTP. This will be our final release on the April 2006 CTP of Microsoft's DSLTools framework. This includes all changes through revision 666 in the svn repository Fixes include: 1) The Model Browser window updates the auto-generated fact names. 2) There is now a sample population window. We are not yet validating constraints against these populations or displaying them in the diagram. The editor will become much smoother in the future, but the initial data entry is in place. 3) We are now generating a preliminary data-access layer as an alternate implementation of the in-memory representation of the object model. Expand the PLiX_Implementation setting in the ORMGeneratorSettings dialog to see the different implementations. 4) There is no a proper UI in place for selecting alternate verbalizations in the options page. Refer to the forum post on how to create alternate verbalization files. See the readme.txt with the download for comments on code generation changes." |
