Just a few quick notes:
An effort to create the next ORM specification, ORM2, was launched a few months back. I’m not sure how much of the new notation is “public” yet so I’ll be a little vague but it includes a number of new features aimed mostly at richer constraint expression, smaller diagram size, and internationalization (i.e. replacing any notation elements that were English-based with a language neutral notation). Northface University has begun work on a new tool that will support this new notation.
Want to learn more about ORM2? I bet it will be discussed at the ORM workshop (ORM’05) in Cyprus this fall. Registration details are not available yet, but I’ll post again when they are. For now, consider submitting a paper/presentation for the workshop. The call for papers is available at http://www.cs.rmit.edu.au/fedconf/orm2005cfp.html.
Don’t forget that with the new site layout, I’ve added ORM-related discussion groups. It may take a little while to get the ball rolling (post frequency-wise) but I think eventually it will be a useful resource. Also, I’m looking to expand the ORM related content on this site. If you have any suggestions please drop me a line.
